Biography

James (Jim) Gow, born in Dearborn, Michigan of 1/16th Potawatomi Native American and German heritage.
Mr. Gow studied fine art and architecture at Wayne State University, the Tucson Museum of Art, and Pima College Tucson, AZ. He has also studied under
watercolor artists, Dale Boatman, Frank Webb, Fran Larsen, James Soares and Joni Falk.
He continues his study of life drawing and painting at the University of Arizona and the Drawing Studio in Tucson, Arizona. He is an Active Member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. His work is represented in private collections and galleries in the United States and abroad.
Jim paints in oils, acrylics, and watercolors; he has a passion for painting Native Americans; he has done an impressive amount of research and has compiled an extensive collection of reference material as well as Native American artifacts.
He has also done some commissioned work.
The examples shown in the attached photo album reflect his sensitivity for color; his favorite subjects are Native Americans and Western Landscapes.
Jim received an award of merit at the National Tubac Aqueous Show XV for his painting titled "Missionary Student".
